This project was made by Alice Rong and Syed Naqvi under Penn State University. This project’s goal was to archive the surveys for Anna Julia Cooper, an important scholar in African American history who was a sociologist and African American liberation activist starting her university career in 1884. We are grateful for the collaboration and advice of Anna Julia Cooper specialist Dr. Shirley Moody-Turner, Co-Director of the Center for Black Digital Research at Penn State University Park, who guided us to the materials we needed to launch this project. The project was initially developed in Alice Rong’s GitHub repository and afterwards archived in the newtfire organization of digital humanities projects guided by Dr. Elisa Beshero-Bondar, Professor of Digital Humanities at Penn State Behrend.
